Student National Podiatric Medical Association (SNPMA)

The Student National Podiatric Medical Association (SNPMA) was incorporated in 1973 and has been in existence for 30 years. It was created to promote ethnic equality and diversity among the students of podiatric medicine. The organization serves as a support group for minority students and works to provide a national communication network among students as a means of improving the health employment distribution among all racial and socioeconomic groups. SNPMA works closely with the National Podiatric Medical Association (NPMA) and strives to educate and involve members in social moral and ethical obligations of podiatry profession. SNPMA also has an affiliation with the Alliance of Black Student Professionals, which attack issues that universally impact the minority student’s professional population.

The Student National Podiatric Medical Association unites to promote student ethnic equality, and to effectuate harmonious fellowship between students of all backgrounds and heritages at the SCPM; to maintain and sustain a high degree of professionalism amongst the students; to promote the recruitment and retention of ethnic minority students; and to provide a channel of communication between minority students, school administration, and members of the Student National Podiatric Medical Association on the local and national level.

Through the existence of SNPMA, a positive environment for professional interactions is developed and mentoring opportunities are cultivated.
